Event Update:

Hollywood superstar Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance Saturday night in Seattle at at the Taste to Educate benefit for the Pacific Northwest Chapter of Cancer for College.

A total of 14 students were awarded college scholarships during the evening among them, Will Farrell, a junior at Central Washington University, who survived Lymphoma last year.  But when 20- year- old Mr. Farrell tried to accept his scholarship award his more famous namesake approached the podium and siezed the mic and proclaimed, “I’m not in college and I’ve never had cancer, but I’m going to keep the money.”

The crowd of more than 200 to the Museum of History and Industry roared with laughter at Ferrell's antics.  The popular actor/comedian from films such as Old School, ELF, Taladega Nights and his current offering Semi-Pro, then came clean, telling the crowd he wanted to meet the young man who shared his name and the rest of the young people whom, he said, he admires greatly.

Taste to Educate showcased wines from eleven top Northwest wineries and was hosted by honorary event chair, Chris Figgins, winemaker at renowned Leonetti Cellar.  The honorary chef for the evening was Jason Wilson of Seattle’s Crush Restaurant.
