Johnson aka Will Ferrell Makes his Pitch for Cancer for College with Appearance in Texas He came and went in a blink of an eye,
but Billy Ray “Rojo”
Johnson’s legacy will carry on far beyond the one pitch he
delivered from the
mound. “Rojo” a.k.a. actor Will
Ferrell, made his professional debut on the mound at The
Dell Diamond in Round
Rock, Texas last night during the top of the 6th
inning all in the
name of promoting his favorite charity, Cancer for College. “This opportunity just came out of
nowhere,” said
Ferrell. “We were coming to town
to promote our first Texas fundraiser when Reid Ryan from
the Express reached
out to us with this great idea for promoting the event, and
“Rojo” was
born. The Ryan family and the
entire staff with the Express were just awesome. I had a
blast out there, and I
especially enjoyed the camaraderie of my new teammates.
We will be houseboating together this
weekend.” “Rojo” entered the game between the Express and the Nashville Sounds in the top of the 6th inning to thunderous applause. The moustache he donned did little to disguise the star of such films as “Elf,” “Talladega Nights,” “Anchorman,” “Step Brothers” and the upcoming “The Other Guys.” After warming up to his own specially crafted theme music, “Rojo” delivered a pitch behind the back of the hitter. After a brief altercation that included some glove throwing, grappling and a chase around the outfield, “Rojo” exited through the centerfield fence and retired on the spot. |
